He's been to six finals in eight races, winning three times and holding the points lead over star drivers like Robert Hight, who also has three wins in 2022, defending world champ Ron Capps, 16-time world champ John Force, J.R. Everyone is chasing Matt Hagan, who has impressed at nearly every stop on the NHRA tour in 2022. Pedregon used that momentum to claim a top-five finish in Funny Car last year and is currently fifth in points. Pedregon's Funny Car win a year ago was significant for the standout veteran, as Pedregon claimed his first victory in more than three years when he got past Bob Tasca III in the final round. Nitromethane is dynamite and a nitro Hemi running is a bit loud (like someone blowing up a building). Make sure you buy an inexpensive set of over the ear hearing protectors incase you need them. The best time (imo) to watch is after the sun sets - you get to see flames from the headers and cool air means fast times. Also they fire the engines on Nitro at the end of the rebuild - it will burn your eyes. A couple notes on the pits - the teams are under pressure to do a lot of work in a very short amount of time - don’t get in the way.

You will also want to walk through the pits and watch as the teams “turn around” the cars between rounds (the Fuel cars often need complete engine rebuilds every run).

My fav though is near the finish line as the cars are travelling 300mph there, sometimes on fire. Also any “show” things happen in that area. Pro stock cars will wheelie and the fuel cars sometimes shake the tires near the start. Sitting near the start line you will get to see the teams starting and the cars leaving the start.
